গণেশ চতুর্থী — গণেশের জন্মোৎসব। ভাদ্রপদ শুক্ল চতুর্থীতে পালিত হয়। ভক্তরা মাটির গণেশ মূর্তি বানিয়ে গৃহে স্থাপন করেন এবং দশ দিনের পূজা করেন। অনন্ত চতুর্দশীর দিনে গণেশ বিসর্জনে উৎসব শেষ হয়। মহারাষ্ট্রে এই উৎসব সবচেয়ে ভব্য; বাংলায় তুলনায় কম পরিচিত হলেও মারওয়াড়ি ও মহারাষ্ট্রীয় সম্প্রদায়ে পালিত।
গণেশ চতুর্থী — পৌরাণিক কাহিনি
According to the Shiva Purana, Goddess Parvati created Ganesha from turmeric paste to guard her door. When Lord Shiva returned and was denied entry, he beheaded Ganesha. To pacify Parvati, Shiva placed an elephant head on Ganesha and revived him, declaring him the first to be worshipped in any ritual.
